| Are cloth diapers EASY TO USE? |
Designed like a disposable, Kushies® are easy to put on even a squirming baby! The Aplix velcro closures eliminate the danger of pins and allows for a fast & proper fit.
This SIMPLICITY will allow you to enjoy this precious bonding time with your baby enhancing eye-contact and verbal interaction. |

| How convenient are Cloth Diapers? |
Because Kushies® diapers are contoured, they do not require any folding.
Once you have a proper layette, only one load of laundry is required every 2/3 days. This time constraint can be offset by your trip(s) to the local stores for disposable diaper purchases. |

| How well do Kushies® fit? |
Proper fit prevents friction on baby's tender skin and will prevent messy leaks. Kushies® contoured fitted diaper has special design features such as a patented built-inflap for extra absorbency, soft leg elastic & adjustable Aplix® closures for snug fit.
In the December 1995 issue of Parents U.K., Kushies® was rated 9 (best out of a scale of 1-10) in overall fit.
**A very small newborn may need extra liners to pad the diaper. You can also adjust the waist tabs by either fastening one over the top of the other horizontally or across in an "X". |

| Can I count on their absorbency? |
As a general rule, and to ensure the health of baby's skin, diapers should be changed 8-10 times a day, even better, diapers should be changed when wet!
Kushies® diapers are made with several layers of 100% cotton flannelette with added absorbency materials. They have a special design flap allowing for MORE ABSORBENCY (folded in front for boys and in the middle for girls).
For EXTRA absorbency, Kushies® liners are recommended. They are available in 100% soft cotton flannelette (WASHABLE) or to assist with messy clean-ups, we recommend flushable biodegradable liners. |

| Can you share a few tips on leakage prevention? |
One of the frustrations experienced by parents who are diapering (either cloth or disposables) is leakage. Unfortunately, this will happen from time to time.
However, here are a few tips to help reduce this incidence:
A) do not tuck in your baby's undershirt inside the waistline of the diaper, it will only serve to wick the urine onto baby's clothing.
B) as previously mentioned, adjust the waistline as snug as possible.
C) try to ensure that the leg area is snug, to do so you can place additional liners in the diaper.
D) a Kushies® wrap will also help protect baby's clothing and bedding from messy leaks, especially during nap-time or overnight. |

| Should I use creams or powders on baby's bottom when changing a diaper? |
As a general rule, it is good to let the skin 'breathe'. Consequently, creams and moisture barriers should be used sparingly, perhaps after a bath or before bed. Excessive use of creams can adversely affect the absorbency of the diaper by creating a coating build-up. As powders can be accidentally inhaled, we discourage their use. |

| Do Kushies® diapers require presoaking? |
Yes! To do so, you will need a diaper pail. Simply half fill diaper pail with cold water and add 1/4 cup of baking soda, vinegar, or Amaze. Once diaper is removed, fold the fastening tabs and place it in the diaper pail. For stubborn stains, you can scrub with an 'old~fashioned' laundry soap bar before presoaking.
*Never use a PURE SOAP (such as IVORY SNOW) or DETERGENT in your PRESOAK as they will cause the premature breakdown of the fibres and wear down of your diapers. |

| How do I treat diapers with bowel movements? |
Normally, Newborn babies have loose stools. In these beginning months, we have found the use of our Kushies® flushable-biodegradable liners very helpful. ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS REMOVE THE SOILED LINER AND FLUSH!
Once your baby grows and starts eating, the feces are more solid and easy to remove by rinsing the diaper portion flap or washable liner in the toilet. |

Under what wash cycle should the diapers be laundered? |
Once your pail is full and you are ready to launder your diapers, empty the pail right into your washing machine and spin them out. Note that the diapers should be washed separately. Then you can proceed on Normal wash cycle with the detergent of your choice. WE CAUTION NOT USE A PURE SOAP (such as IVORY SNOW) as it can leave a fatty, waxy build-up on the cotton fibres which make the diapers less absorbent. Remember, LESS detergent is better than more.
If you are concerned with soapy residue, we suggest that:
A) you increase the water level in proportion to the diapers
B) reduce the amount of detergent used
C) double rinse the load
NEVER use BLEACH (powder or liquid) when washing Kushies® diapers. it weakens the fabric and is not safe for baby's skin. |

| Can I use fabric softener on my diapers? |
NO. Fabric softeners (liquid or dryer sheets) leave a coating on the fibres in the diaper which will decrease their absorbency. It is also not healthy for baby's tender bottom. |

What is the drying time? |
If you are not line drying (which is a natural whitener), the diapers can be put in the dryer on regular cycle. While putting the diapers in the dryer, it is always good to spot check that the Aplix® velcro closures have remained closed in order that the diapers not stick to each other or collect lint.
Our diapers will dry in less than 1 hour! To further shorten drying time, a dry towel can be thrown in to draw moisture. |

| Do I save money with cloth diapers? |
Money is always an important consideration when choosing diapering systems. There is a substancial cost savings when using cloth diapers over disposables. This savings is enhanced when the diapers are used for another baby. The following chart depicts the average approximate cost of three diapering alternatives over a 2 1/2 year period, that is, approximately 7,500 diaper changes.
* Note in the chart of home laundered, included are costs relating to detergent, diaper pail additives, energy(electricity/gas), depreciation of washer/dryer.
Think of the baby furniture you could purchase with the SAVINGS you earned from buying and laundering your own Kushies® diapers! |

| How does my choice of diapers affect the environment? |
|
Research shows disposable diapering of ONE baby will produce over TWO TONS of used, non-biodegradable waste. Landfills, which are closing at a rate of one per day, are becoming overrun with bacteria-laden disposables which can take up to 500 years to decompose. As we approach the turn of the century, user fees (disposal "tax") are being considered for disposable waste. And we are well aware of the consequences to the reduction of our forests resulting in both higher costs for paper/lumber products and the 'greenhouse' effect. Ecological concerns are very much at the forefront of today's agenda. Remember to "THINK GLOBALLY AND ACT LOCALLY".
By just choosing cloth diapers for YOUR baby, you are making a tremendous impact on the environment and offering your child a cleaner world to live in! What better than to teach your child by EXAMPLE!
